| CONDITIONALS
Scientific Law/Habit
If + simple present / simple present in main clause
Ex : If he sleeps, he snores ( habit) If one puts ice into water, it melts
Probable
If + simple present / simple future in main clause
Ex : If I win at bingo , I will travel around the world . Notes :1) The future( main clause)can be substituted by the imperative . Ex : If you see Rim , tell her to come to school on Thursday. 2) "Can" and "May"are considered as future tenses in such a structure . Ex : You can do this if you try.

If + simple past / present conditional in main clause .
Ex -" If I won at bingo , I would travel around the world .
Notes :1) The conditional forms of "can" and "may" are "could" and "might” . Ex : You could do this if you tried.
2) Note the form "were" for all the persons of the verb "to be" Ex :If I were rich, I would buy a castle in Scotland ; if she were younger,she would lear [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] Impossible
If + past perfect / past or perfect conditional in main clause Ex : If I had won at bingo, I would have travelled around the world .
Notes :1) "can" and "may" become "could have" and "might have" . Ex : You could have done this if you had tried
2) Note the structure "Had I known" as a synonym of "If I had known" Beware of what's behind the apostrophe : He'd go = he would go He'd gone = he had gone He'd have gone = he would have gone
